Pimples usually occur on the face and shoulders due to clogging of the skin pores or hair follicles. Factors such as hormonal changes cause the oil glands that are located beneath the skin, to produce an excess amount of oil. This oil along with other debris, such as dead skin cells and bacteria, get stuck in the pores. Inflammation occurs due to the bacteria, resulting in the formation of a pimple. The whitish portion that appears along with the redness in a pimple, is called pus, which is a mixture of white blood cells and skin cells. This is a natural reaction of the body in its attempt to fight the inflammation. Pimples may occur during any age, but are most common at puberty, as many hormonal fluctuations occur during this stage.
It is essential that you do not allow any dirt to touch the skin. As such you must avoid touching your face with your fingers, as this will serve to spread germs on the skin. Also, refrain from squeezing or picking at the pimples. This will aggravate the inflammation and irritate it further. Maintaining good hygiene is imperative, and the face must be cleansed daily. Use a mild soap that will not dry out the skin. Also, do not wash the face too often, as this will strip away the body's natural oil which is necessary for the lubrication of the skin. This in turn, will lead the oil glands to increase their oil production. Allow the skin to be exposed to the sun for a little while every day. This has been known to have a positive effect on individuals affected by acne. Do not use too many cosmetics, and if you have to, then use those that are low in chemical content. Make sure that you get rid of all make-up traces before going to bed at night.
An excellent remedy for treating pimple spots is to cleanse the skin with garlic juice mixed with water. A clove of raw garlic may also be rubbed on the affected areas. Unripe papaya is also effective in removing pimple spots, and a paste of this can be applied to the face on a regular basis. It is also a good idea to wash the face with a solution of salt and water. This helps to prevent further infection and spread of acne. Lemon juice is very good for treating skin blemishes and a solution of rose water and lemon juice may be applied to the face. Allow this to stay on for about half an hour and then rinse the face with cool water. Used regularly, this will work well to treat pimple spots and scars.
