Keeping the skin hydrated and increasing the intake of green vegetables helps to keep the skin glowing

When I stay at home my skin looks fair but when I go to school, skin becomes dull and dark. What should I do?

The difference between stepping outside your home and staying inside it, which could be causing some differences in the texture of your skin, is pollution and dirt. While these may not be visible on the face, what happens when these substances fall on your face is that, they soak up or bind to the natural skin oil; thereby, causing the illusion of dullness. What actually happens here is that the reflective abilities of pure skin oil are disrupted due to the contamination. In addition to this, your trips outdoors can tend to dehydrate your skin faster than the oil-secreting glands of your skin can secrete protective skin oils. Most of the reasons for the change in skin texture are largely conjecture, but the remedy would be standard because all you need to do is to keep your face clean and hydrated.

Keeping your face clean is not just a matter of slapping on some soapy water and getting rid of dust and dirt. Keeping your face clean also requires that you remove dead skin cells from your body and unclog your skin pores and gland ducts from blockages. For this reason, you need to get yourself some salicylic acid. This is a plant derived compound and is generally used in acne treatments. This is because it has the ability to break down skin protein; thereby allowing it to be removed a lot easier. Along with dead skin cells, a lot of the plugs that form on your skin pores and gland ducts also come away. Therefore you end up with a new layer of skin after every wash and more natural skin oil or sebum.

To avoid getting your skin into a situation where it dries out the way you have mentioned, you need to use a moisturizing cream every time you step out of the house. Add to this, the fact that you need to keep yourself well hydrated. Hydration is not a set formula and the best way to ensure that you are topped up with fluids is to drink - half a glass of water every half hour. Think of drinking water not as topping up a gas tank, but rather as soaking a sponge. Increase your intake of vitamin E from leafy green vegetables and sea food to reduce any excessive pigmentation in your skin. Topical application of the same vitamin is also a good idea by using a moisturizing cream with vitamin E in it.
