Dry Skin Patches Remedies

Patches of dry skin occur when you have not cared for your skin properly and adequately. Please do note that this does not indicate that you have patches of dry skin. It means simply that your skin has lost its uniformity of texture, and this is why the dryness is manifesting itself in patches on your skin. This is a condition that you can get afflicted with when your skin has suffered a surfeit of exposure and abuse. Excessive dryness is the basic cause of this problem. For most part, it is common to see patches of dry skin in areas like the knees, elbows and ankles. These are the parts that have fine layers of skin running into one another and forming a large network of wrinkles, so to speak. It becomes difficult to clean or properly care for these particular patches of skin.

In such cases of extreme dryness, you topically apply simple substances such as petroleum jelly or regular thick cold cream, rub it in and leave it on. This is the best way to care for these patches. If you can, you should also exfoliate these areas once a week or so in order to slough off the layers of dead accumulated skin there. This will reveal fresh skin, and if you care for that, it will be easier to maintain overall.
