Baby Dry Skin Treatment Babies with dry skin are a fairly common occurrence. Since it is impossible to tell if babies are getting enough moisture and oiliness from topical applications of creams and oils, you have no way of knowing if they are faced with the troubling incidence of dry skin till you actually see it being manifested. Sometimes, baby dry skin will show up in scaliness along the natural skin. Other times, it will just look extra red and angry, thus telling you that it is excessively dry and also irritated. This condition is the worse of the two and more difficult to deal with, as it will require extra care and more frequent applications of cream and oil.
It is important for you to know that babies can get afflicted with especially dry skin in the diaper area, despite the fact that it is wet and moisturized most of the time. Excessive moisture tends to work on the skin and make it wrinkled and, as a result, dryer. The best solution for baby dry skin is to apply olive oil to it about two to three times a day. While baby oil is good, it is mostly comprised of mineral oil, which does not have any healing or therapeutic properties as olive oil does.
