Hair styling techniques and tips for small face person

I have a small head and not much of a chin either. My hair at the moment is shoulder length with a fringe. What hair style will suit on small head?

Haircuts looking good on any one are a matter of proportion and balancing out the hair, keeping in mind the texture and quantity of hair. It seems from your description that you have small features with a small head. You have not described the shape of your face that often determines the way a haircut can look on your face. The texture of hair also determines the kind of haircut that would be best suited for your face. If you have a small and round shaped face, my suggestion would be to grow your hair below shoulder length. Do not grow it to resemble Rapunzel's tresses, as it would make your petite face appear even smaller.

To highlight your features and chin, you should get a haircut that layers off from your chin and below. This will draw attention to your chin and elongate your face as well. Since you already have bangs, try and arrange them as a side parting so that your features are not half hidden with the bangs. Bangs are usually styled for people with wide foreheads to camouflage the foreheads and make them appear smaller. Tying your hair in a ponytail and pulled back will highlight your jawbones and cheekbones and thus enhance your features. By creating the illusion of height you can adjust your existing hair style to mold the upper part of your hair into a top knot; or pull back the upper portion of your hair into a clip which holds the hair in place which is also commonly referred to as a 'puff'. This puffed up hair in the upper middle portion of your head gives a raised effect to your face making it appear longer and adds a couple of inches to your height as well. Not to mention that this hairstyle coupled with a side parting of your bangs will create an extremely classy and elegant look.

Adding another trick to adding height to your hair and face is to create an illusion through the use of color and highlighting of strands of your hair. In addition to experimenting with different ways of styling your hair with your existing cut, you can try adding highlights in shades that are 2-3 levels lighter than the natural base color of your hair. This results in addition to the depth and dimension to your color. Therefore you can create an illusion of larger size to your petite face. One last thing that you must remember is that haircuts and hairstyles are not the only way to enhance your visual appeal. Highlighting your individual features like eye color, color to your lips, highlighting your cheekbones are also ways to highlight features.
