Graying of one's hair is all a part of the natural process of aging. But apart from this some individuals face the problem of developing gray hair at an early age. This phenomenon is referred to as premature graying. Since you have not specified your age, it is difficult to determine if your hair is graying naturally or prematurely. The hair on our body grows out from hair follicles. These are situated at the base of the numerous pores on our skin. The pores on the skin also contain sebaceous glands that secrete oil or sebum. This sebum provides the hair with all the nutrition that it needs, keeping it strong and healthy. However, when these glands stop secreting this oil, the hair loses its color giving it a white appearance. This is what causes the hair to gray prematurely.

If your hair is graying due to age related factors, there is little that one can do. Unfortunately, this is inherent as we grow older. You could try hair colors to hide the grays, but extensive use of these products could harm your hair in the long run, giving rise to other problems such as hair loss, split ends and thinning of the hair. If your hair is graying prematurely, then here are few natural hair care home remedies that you can implement to restore the color of your hair. Ribbed gourd is considered to be very effective for treating this condition, simply dry a few slices of the vegetable in a shaded area, after which drop them in a bowl of coconut oil. Keep the bowl aside for a couple of days. Thereafter boil the oil and once it has cooled massage it into the scalp. Warm almond oil, coconut oil or Vitamin E oil can also be massaged into the scalp 2-3 times a week to prevent the premature graying of hair.

Other hair care tips include use of curry leaves to treat this condition. Boil a 4-5 leaves in 250 ml of coconut oil. Once the oil cools massage it into your scalp. Juice extracted from the vegetable pigweed, is also known to work well on grays. Apply the juice on the scalp and the hair, leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash your hair with warm water. Consume plenty of fruits and green vegetables; this will help in strengthening your hair from within, while drinking 8-10 glasses of water will help in keeping the hair well hydrated.
