Diabetes Dry Skin When afflicted with a condition like diabetes, it is common to develop some basic skin problems. Dry skin resulting from diabetes is also quite a regular occurrence. This mostly happens due to certain restrictions in diet. In a typically diabetic diet, the intake of grease, fatty and rich foods is somewhat restricted if not totally prohibited. This leads to the natural reserves of oil that the body has depleting over a period of following these diet restrictions. It is already obvious that nothing can be done in terms of changing the diet in the event that you have diabetes. So, what must be done instead is to start following a routine of external skin care and maintenance.
For moisturizing during the day, you can use a light cream or lotion meant for dry skin. Do remember that you may have to apply this to your face, hands and arms several times during the day for it to work effectively, since your skin will absorb the moisture like a sponge every time you feed it. For night care, you can use a thick cream to moisturize. If you apply it to your hands and feet, try to wear socks and gloves, as this will help retain the moisture further. Remember not to go out without sunscreen, as this will dry your skin further.
