Tea tree oil possesses a bacteriostatic and fungicidal property, thereby used as a disinfectant in wound healing. This is attributed to the compound terpinen-4-ol, seen in the oil. It has the capacity to penetrate the skin, thus used aas an anti-inflammatory agent. It also dissolves the pus and helps in wound cleaning. It proves beneficial as a immuno-stimulant, especially for individuals with poor immunity. It is effective in treatment of head lice infection, eczema, psoriasis, boils and thrush.
