The white blemishes on your face could be the result of a condition known as Tinea Versicolor or pityriasis versicolor. This is primarily a type of skin infection that is caused by fungus. When a person suffers from this condition, there is the formation of discolored patches on his or her skin. These patches could either be light or brownish red in color. Tinea Versicolor is neither a permanent nor a serious infection. It mainly tends to affect skin on the back and chest, but can occur on other parts of the body as well. Tinea Versicolor mainly affects the upper layer of the skin and it is not a contagious condition. This skin infection is brought about by a type of yeast known as Malassezia furfur. This is a type or variety of fungus. This yeast thrives on fat and hence, this condition tends to be more prominent among individuals, with a larger number of sebaceous glands.

This particular fungus is present everywhere including our skin. However when exposed to high temperature, the fungus has a tendency of multiplying rapidly. When this happens, the natural balance maintained by the fungus is then disturbed, leading to the formation of patches on the skin. Individuals that have this condition should consume a healthy and balanced diet. Healthy food as well as food hygiene will help in preventing this infection from reoccurring. Whole grains, raw vegetables and raw fruits must be consumed in substantial quantities. This will help in reinforcing one's immune system by supplying it with antioxidants. Also make sure that you include food that contains lactic acid in your diet such as yogurt. This will help prevent the infection from spreading. Sugar and white flour should be avoided as far as possible. Garlic is a great antifungal and hence should be a part of your daily meals.

Chewing on 2-3 cloves daily will prove to be helpful in treating this condition. Eat lesser amounts of oily and fried foods. Drinking a lot of water will be beneficial in getting rid of the patches and it will also restrict the condition from reoccurring. Citrus fruits whether taken whole or in the form of a juice will also help in boosting the immunity which in turn will speed up the healing process. A tablespoon of honey should be taken daily, as it will enhance blood flow, similarly eating dry fruits like dates, almonds and figs will help in enhancing one's hemoglobin rate.
