Scars are patches or marks that are formed on the surface of one's skin as a result of an injury or cut. Very simply put, the formation of scars is a part of the body's healing process, which follows after an injury. The dermis is the layer of skin that is both sensitive and deep. When the skin is subject to any kind of trauma, such as cuts, bruises and injuries, it results in causing damage to the dermis. When the skins dermal layer gets damaged, new collaged fibers are produced by the body, in order to mend the injury. Once the wound finally heals, it leaves behind a scar. Scar tissue feels and looks different as compared to the regular body tissue, as result of which they appear discolored. There are several factors that influence the appearance of skin scars.

The size and depth of incision or wound, and the area of the injury basically determines the characteristics of the scar. Apart from this, hereditary factors, age, and even an individual's ethnicity or sex will all determine how the skin reacts. Scars will never go away completely, however having said that, there are definitely few methods that could help one in reducing their appearance and size. You could try out a few of these home remedies to reduce the scars that have been left behind by the warts removal. Mix together 1 tablespoon each of yogurt, sour cream and ground oatmeal. Add 4-5 drops to this mixture and then apply it on the affected area. After about 10 minutes, wash your face with cold water. This treatment is considered to be very effective in the treatment of scars and should yield positive results in a few weeks time.

Take a teaspoon of honey and apply a thin layer on the marks. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse of with cold water. This remedy, if repeated 2-3 times will prove to be very beneficial. Instead of honey you could also apply olive oil or tea tree oil in a similar fashion, on the scars to lighten them. Lemon juice acts as an excellent bleaching agent. You could apply a little lemon juice on the marks daily, this will help in reducing them considerably. Green tea (blanched), will also work well on these marks. Dip a clean cotton ball in the tea and then apply it over the scars. This should also help in fading them to a large extent.
