The swelling under your eyes could have resulted due to various reasons. It could be a sty, which is a bacterial infection of the hair follicles in the eyelashes. Swelling or puffiness could also occur due to lack of proper sleep, poor nutrition, inadequate intake of water and fluid retention in the eye area. There are several simple remedies for reducing eye swelling. Slices of fresh cucumber may be placed over the eye to alleviate the swelling and soothe the eyes. Soaked tea bags are also effective when placed on the eyes. Another remedy that you can try out is to chill four spoons in the refrigerator. Place one spoon on each eye for a few minutes and then replace with the other two spoons. After doing this, you will find that the swelling has reduced considerably. Gently massaging a couple of drops of sweet almond oil or castor oil will also help to reduce the swelling. Whenever you find that your eyes appear swollen or puffy, you can splash your face with some cold water as this is beneficial in getting rid of the swelling.
As for your acne, it is common for it to occur on the forehead. It is caused by an over-production of oil by the oil glands beneath the surface of the skin. This excess oil attracts dirt, dead cells and bacteria and clogs the pores. The result is a bacterial infection which causes a spread of pimples. Good hygienic practice is vital in ensuring that acne does not spread further. Wash your face regularly with a mild soap, but avoid washing too many times, as this can dry out the natural moisture of your skin and stimulate the oil glands into producing more oil. Do not pick at the pimples or keep touching your face with your hands as the infection could spread. Sometimes, oily or dirty hair may fall on the forehead and cause pimples. As such keep your hair away from your face at all times.
An effective home remedy for treating acne is to mix equal quantities of lemon juice and rose water and apply to the affected skin daily. The pulp of ripe tomato may also be applied to the forehead in order to restrict growth and spread of pimples. A solution of mint juice and turmeric powder is effective in treating acne. You can apply an ice pack to the affected skin to reduce the swelling and inflammation. Grated cucumber is also an effective remedy for treating pimples and acne.
