The structure and texture of your hair is a natural part of you, and cannot be changed permanently. If you were to take one of your hairs, slice it and view it under a microscope, you will notice it has an oval cross-section. This internal structure makes your hair naturally curly and frizzy. In contrast, a person with straight hair will have a round cross section. In addition, every hair has an outer layer of cuticles, which are over-lapped like the shingles on a roof. In your case, these cuticles are not completely flat, making the hair prone to damage such as split ends and damage. What all this means is that you have to take extra care to keep your curly hair healthy and strong.

Your local drugstore may offer several hair products that claim to help control curls or frizzy hair. However, these are at best temporary solutions and could even harm your hair in the long run. The best solution for you is to adopt gentle, non-toxic natural hair products and pick up a few tips on caring for your curly locks. Since you have rough, dry hair, you may benefit from a weekly hair pack created by mixing 1 part of almond oil to 5 parts of natural honey. Gently scrunch it in, trying to coat all your hair, and then leave it on for ten minutes before rinsing. Always use cold water, since hot water will only dry and frizz the hair. For the same reason, avoid using hair dryers. For dense, curly and frizzy hair, natural drying is the best solution. Once dry, use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb to gently separate the curls. You may want to scrunch in a natural hair gel containing aloe vera during styling. This will help to coat the hair, giving it shine and volume. In general, curly hair looks more attractive with a parting slightly to one side of the middle.

When it comes to shampooing, products containing alcohol are totally out; they will dry your hair, making them rough and frizzy. Use a home-made solution created by mixing a few drops of olive oil in baby shampoo. For a conditioner, try using a mild solution of water and vinegar. You can even carry some with you for regular touch ups. As far as possible, avoid the damaging effects of sunlight and outdoor pollution. Try following these tips for a couple of weeks and you will notice that hair will be much more manageable and healthy looking!
