Dry Skin Condition Cures
Dry skin is generally caused due to a low level of water in the outer skin layer known as the stratum corneum. The skin thus goes dry when the oil glands do not produce the required lubrication for the skin or the oil produced is not allowed to remain as a result of washing the skin too much. Cold weather, genetic conditions, poor diet, deficiencies in vitamin A and B and exposure to the elements also causes the occurrence of dry skin. Basically the outer most layer of the skin contains dead skin cells and natural oils (which are produced by the lower level of skin), the combination of these two helps seal the water in the lower layers of the skin and thus keeps the skin moist and soft. A dry skin condition thus occurs when there is a low amount of oils in the outermost layer, the water is not successfully retained and hence the skin goes dry. Dry skin is also sometimes hereditary.
In order to avoid dry skin, avoid using tap water, and never use excessively hot water. When washing your face, remember to use mineral water, and spray it on your face using a clean plant sprayer. Use a soft wash cloth to gently dab your face dry, as a rough material will tend to irritate dry skin. Drink plenty of water and regularly massage your skin with oils, lotions or moisturizers. This helps keep the water from evaporating from your skin and give a soft and moist felling Avoid washing your skin with harsh soaps as they remove the natural oils and dry your skin further.
