Can dermatology treatment help in curing skin cancer?

Dermatology and Skin Cancer
Dermatology is basically the study of skin and skin problems. Although skin cancer is so called, the problem of skin cancer does not really lie in the skin alone. It is a combination of a breakdown of the working mechanism of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and a resultant disorder in the skin that causes irregular formation of skin cells. A result of this is skin cancer. While this is a simplified explanation, it would take a doctor who specializes in this kind of disease to determine the reasons, stages, success chances and proper treatment procedures for skin cancer.
A dermatologist would in all probability be able to diagnose cancer, and if they have studied cancer specifically, may also be able to treat you. But more generally, a dermatologist is more adept at cosmetic science that at the science of cancer. However, you should know that there are specializing as well as advanced studies in dermatology that will enable a dermatologist to treat you if you are suffering from skin cancer as well. But you would be well advised to please check the qualifications as well as credentials of the doctor well ahead before you begin a course of treatment with them.
