Alopecia areata is an autoimmune skin disorder wherein persons own immune system (White Blood Cells) attack the affected hair follicles leading to hair loss. In most of the cases, generally the hair grows back within 12 months without any treatment, however in some cases it might take longer. It mainly affects children and young adults, and reoccurrence is very common with several episodes of this disorder during a lifetime. It is difficult to prevent alopecia areata. For exact diagnosis and treatment of the cause consult a dermatologist. You can try these home remedies for alopecia –

  • Apply onion juice on the patches of hair loss, in 2-3 weeks it would promote hair growth.
  • Essential oils when massage on the scalp daily, will also show significant benefit.
