Dry Skin Vitamins

Vitamins are not the only cause for dry skin, and the condition could have a variety of causes from weather conditions to fungal infections. As far as vitamin deficiencies and dry skin go, Vitamin A deficiency would be the most significant cause. Vitamin A supplements are therefore a valid consideration if you suffer from dry skin condition and wish to take dietary supplements. Capsules and other dietary supplements are however unnecessary, as all the nutrition needed, can be obtained from natural sources.

Vitamin B5 is another very important vitamin that is extremely vital to healthy skin. B5 deficiencies are generally unlikely to occur in adults, but it's not uncommon among smokers and alcoholics, women on birth control, people experiencing great stress and individuals on a diet of largely refined or processed foods. B5 is also known as pantothenic acid and is needed for oils and fats to be used properly for your skin. Supplements of vitamin B5 can be taken through B complex capsules, or even individually as pantothenic acid or calcium pantothenate.

While vitamin supplements are an option, they are best avoided as these vitamins are readily available in a healthy diet. Apricots, almonds, beetroot and carrots are just some fruits that are rich in all the needed vitamins. Yeast and yogurt are also an excellent supplement as they are rich in vitamin B5.
