Skin Itching in Skin Cancer
Under normal circumstances, skin cancer makes its presence felt only in terms of superficial physical changes. Sometimes it does not even show up too clearly on the skin, which is what causes deaths due to late detection in cases of dangerous cancers such as melanoma and lung cancer. Itching is not a symptom that has commonly been associated with cancer. As a matter of fact, all doctors would advise you to check for any physical change in your skin at once. But it is hardly likely that any doctor would recommend that you be tested for cancer if you have skin that itches. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile that you get yourself checked out if you have a problem with itching in the first place.
In order to begin, go to a general family physician who will be able to direct you towards the kind of tests you are supposed to take for the problem that you have. If you are not satisfied with the verdicts presented by this doctor and the tests you have been asked to take, then you must also get a second opinion to satisfy yourself. If you feel the need, you can also consult a dermatologist, who will only ask you to take certain tests that are specific to your skin and you will be able to come up with a solution sooner.
