People with Skin Cancer
Is there treatment for people with skin cancer or is it fatal?

Treatment for Skin Cancer
Cancer of the skin occurs when the cells found in the layers of the skin start to multiply in an uncontrollable manner. Human skin consists of two important layers. The epidermis forms the top layer and contains cells known as basal cells and squamous cells. Cancer of the basal cells and squamous cells are most common type of skin cancer and are forms of non-melanoma skin cancer. These types of cancer are less harmful and are possible to cure even when the cancer has been detected in its later stages.
The layer also consists of cells that are known as melanocytes. These cells are responsible for the production of Melanin which gives color to the skin and protects the deeper layers of the skin from the UV rays of the sun. The cancer from the basal and squamous cells spreads and affects these cells (melanocytes); this causes them to multiply out of control and eventually leads to the formation of more tumors. Melanoma skin cancer is regarded as more dangerous than the non- melanoma types of cancer. This cancer has to be treated in the early stages as it tends to spread to the other organs of the body and at the later stages can be fatal. Depending on the type of cancer, there are various treatments that range from surgery to chemotherapy. Consult your doctor as soon as possible in order to identify and treat the cancer.
