Skin Test for Cancerous Growth
A skin biopsy is a procedure that is followed in order to help the medical practitioners diagnose a variety of diseases. This process involves removing a small piece of the affected skin. This skin is then tested in order to determine if the patient suffers from a medical condition. Usually a skin biopsy is recommended when the patient notices some unnatural growth of a mole or even some unnatural rash. This procedure is carried out under local anesthetic.
In most cases the doctors follow a shave biopsy. This procedure takes off a small piece of the patient's skin. In some cases this can be used to remove small lesions from the skin. The punch biopsy removes a core that is a small cylindrical shaped piece of skin from the affected area. Excesional biopsies cover a larger area and are usually employed when removing an entire section of skin with abnormal growths.
The sample of skin is then placed in solution and then examined. This technique is followed when the doctors wish to ascertain the nature of skin ailment that the patient has. A skin biopsy is very useful since it can help in an early identification of the disease.
