Skin Cancer Cure in Early Stage
Skin cancer that has been detected in the earliest stages of development has a very good chance of responding well to relatively simple treatment. It is when the cancer advances beyond the upper layer of the skin (epidermis) that the treatment becomes more challenging.
Some form of surgery can handle most early stage skin cancer cases. The surgery can range from simple excision — which would involve cutting out of the cancerous growth using a blade — to laser treatment and cryosurgery. In laser treatment the malignant growth is extracted using a laser beam. Cryosurgery involves the freezing of the malignancy to cause its death. In the very early and most amenable stages very simple surgery and medications are also efficacious in getting rid of the cancerous growths. The early stage surgery can be done under local anesthesia.
The type of surgery used depends on the type of skin cancer and the stage that the cancer has developed to. Basal cell carcinoma is usually localized in the in the different layers of the skin and rarely spreads further down. Squamous cell carcinoma on the other hand has a high chance of infecting underlying tissues and organs if not treated promptly and adequately.
