Skin Cancer from Tanning Beds
Is it possible to get skin cancer because of using tanning beds?

Skin Cancer and Tanning Beds
While exposure to ultra violet light is regarded positively, specifically from the view of improving overall biological functions, it does very have its limits. Too much sun and this UV light can start taking its toll.
To satisfy their vanity while avoiding exposure to the sun, people have started to opt for tanning beds.
Research has shown that people using such artificial methods of achieving a tan were actually putting themselves at a high risk of cancer. While too many tanning beds seem like an obvious risk others claim that it's a safer way to tan. While medical research hasn't been able to establish a concrete link between the two, its findings have been quite disturbing.
Studies revealed people who used a tanning bed to be 2.5 times more susceptible to squamous cell cancer while they were 1.5 times more susceptible to basal cell cancer. Besides this, individuals who opted to use tanning beds at an earlier age seemed to be more vulnerable to and likely to suffer from skin cancer. In fact in terms of an age difference of a decade, for the first use of a tanning device, their odds of getting squamous cell cancer increased by 20 percent and 10 percent for basal cell cancer.
