Alternative Treatment for Oily Hair

The common shampoos have such chemicals, which stimulate the sebaceous glands to release more oil. As a result, such people can experience the problems you are facing. Using them in the form of small doses as well can solve the problem. However, there is no need of it as there are many commercially available shampoos for oily scalp.  Some of the most popular among them are

  • J.F. LAZARTIGUE,
  • AMERICAN CREW men DIALY SHAMPOO,
  • Solv-X-rays Oily Scalp and Hair Shampoo from therapro Mediceuticals,
  • Rene Futerer Anti-Dandruff shampoo,
  • Oily scalp or RENE FERTERER Anti-dandruff Shampoo with Malaluca etc
All these shampoos are specially designed for an oily scalp. Therefore, there are some special features in them. They remove excess of oil and cell buildup from the scalp. However, even then there is no compromise on the nourishment, which they provide to the scalp. They nourish the hair without providing any stimulation to the sebaceous glands to release any excess of oil. They are available in different fragrances as well.

There is not much difference in the prices of the shampoos for oily scalp and skin and the other common shampoos. Therefore, there is no reason why you should not try them out.

Alternative Cure for Oily Hair

The possibility of oily scalp and hair leading to oily skin and acne should be determined by a doctor or dermatologist first. It is possible that the two problems are completely separated and need to be taken care of separately. As for shampoos, you can use any local regular shampoo that mentions “for oily hair” on its packaging. Usually, these shampoos are the ones that do not have added conditioner, and so they do not promote excess oiliness in hair.

There are, however, some remedies you can follow at home to take care of oily hair. You can massage your scalp with a mix of a cup of yogurt and a tablespoon of lime juice and leave this in your hair for about an hour before washing. This will remove any excessive oiliness from your hair quite effectively. Alternatively, you can also make a mix of a cup of yogurt and two tablespoons of gram flour and apply this to your hair. Leaving it on for a couple of hours before washing will not only remove extra oil, it will also make your hair shine with good health. Make it a practice to wash your hair every alternate day. It is essential that you not rob the scalp of its natural moisture content while doing this, however. So you must also apply coconut oil and leave it on for an hour before washing.
