Complete Cure for Skin Cancer

Treatment for skin cancer depends on both the type of skin cancer one suffers from and the intensity of the cancer. Milder types of skin cancer that are categorized as non-melanoma type are amenable to relatively simple procedures such as excision or cryotherapy. These types of treatment involve the removal of the waxy or wart-like growths that are symptomatic of non-melanoma type of cancer. They are especially used on those areas where the cancer is not likely to occur.

Certain medical treatments like photodynamic therapy or other medications are also used. Mohs micrographic surgery or chemotherapy is used on those areas where the cancer has a chance of recurring. Non-melanoma type of cancer includes basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Both are less fatal than the next type mentioned i.e. Melanoma.
Melanoma is the most fatal and least common of all types of skin cancer. It shows up as small growths of mole-like appearance that are brownish red in color. Melanoma is most efficiently treated using a variety of techniques but it depends on the stage to which the cancer has developed. Localized melanoma responds well to surgery or radiation while a melanoma that has advanced to the last stage (Stage four) needs the combined efforts of surgery, radiation, immunotherapy and chemotherapy.
