What percentage of people across the world get skin cancer every year?

The percentage of people developing skin cancer has increased slowly but gradually over the last four decades. A reason for this is that the depleting ozone layer is making more and more of the ultra violet rays of the sun affect our planet, thus bringing more people in contact with it. Unprotected exposure to these harmful rays is the number one reason for development of skin cancer. As last calculated in the year 2007, there are over two and less than three million detected, diagnosed and documented cases of skin cancer all over the world. It is important to note that this figure is only true in as much as reported cases. There may be several more unreported cases as well, which are not included for the count.
Out of the total figure, one in every three reported cases is that of skin cancer. It can be easily said that skin cancer is the fastest growing and moving form of cancer worldwide, contrary to popular belief. It is also important to know that people who are fair skinned are more greatly predisposed towards developing skin cancer as opposed to people who have darker skin, because those who have already dark skin can more easily deal with the rays of the sun as well as sunburn as opposed to light pale skinned people.
