I have oily skin, curly hairs and suffering from hairloss. If I don’t wash my hair regularly with shampoo they break more. Should I wash regularly and what extra care do I need to take for my hair?

You have mentioned two different problems - one related to your oily skin and the other related to your hair loss. For your oily skin you should ensure that you wash your face regularly. You should take care when picking cosmetics for your face. Very often the pollution in the air can adversely affect your skin. However, this is not helped by indiscriminately picking cosmetics from the supermarket. Instead, you should try and ensure that the food you eat is really healthy. Raw food like fresh fruits and vegetables, unsweetened fruit juices and food made of whole grain grains will all make you healthier. This will be reflected in your complexion as well. You should make a simple face mask using a tablespoon of gram flour, a pinch of turmeric and a few drops of milk. Mix these to form a smooth paste and apply on your face. This will ensure that the excessive oiliness of your skin is reduced.

There can be a variety of reason to explain your hair loss. If you have recently recovered from some illness, your hair loss could be related to this. Our hectic lifestyles mean that we are unable to give our hair the kind of pampering that it needs in order to combat the harmful effects of harsh cosmetics and the pollution. You should make it a regular practice to give yourself a hair massage using warmed coconut oil. You can also make a medicated oil for your regular use. Heat some mustard oil and then add some henna leaves to this. Allow the mustard leaves to burn in the hot mustard oil. Strain the cooled oil and store it. You can use this oil for your regular weekly massage. Take care in your selection of shampoos and conditioners and chose one that best suits you. You can also boil pieces of dried gooseberry in some oil. Strain the oil after it has cooled down. This can be stored and used regularly. Another easy treatment involves boiling two tablespoons of dried gooseberry. If you can find powdered gooseberry, you can use this too. Boil it in water and leave it overnight. Apply this on your hair in the morning for at least an hour and then wash it off. Do this regularly. In addition to these applications, it is important to remember that for healthy hair and skin you should eat healthy. Your food should contain a balanced amount of raw fruits and vegetables and food that contains a minimum of spices and oils.
