Taking care of your brittle hair and breakage will be easy since you know the cause and root of the brittle hair problem. To begin with, you should eliminate the cause of the problem. Stop using hair color for a short period of time. This in itself will make a considerable difference to the texture of your hair. If you must use hair color, then you should start with conducting your own research on the many brands and types available in the market. There is a type of hair color called ammonia free color that you can use in order to reduce hair spoilage. But you need to know that the ammonia free variety will only reduce spoilage, and will not eliminate it altogether. In order to change the color of hair, ammonia is required. The ammonia first strips your hair of its natural color and readies it for accepting a new dye. This is the process that damages your hair and causes it to become brittle. Whether or not ammonia free dyes are actually what they claim is still a question that companies are hedging to answer. But at least you have some satisfaction in knowing that they are relatively milder as compared to ammonia based dyes.

Apart from opting for this relatively mild type of hair color, you can also start using shampoos that are meant specifically for colored hair. These shampoos contain agents that will coat your hair so as to prevent the color from damaging your hair. They also contain extra amounts of conditioner which will help to soften your hair further. It is advisable to use these shampoos as opposed to regular ones if you are planning to continue dyeing your hair.

You can also condition and nourish your brittle hair to lose the brittleness with some simple methods at home. Make it a point to rub oil into your hair and scalp at least twice a week before bedtime. You can use coconut oil or almond oil for this purpose. This will nourish your hair and take away from the brittleness as well. You can shampoo off the oil the next morning as usual. Consuming fenugreek (also known as methi) will also help to add to the texture of your hair. You can take this herb in natural form if you can find it, or you can buy it in pill form. It is easily available in specialty stores that sell natural and herbal goods.
