You just washed your hair today but as the day passes by you start feeling that your hair has become oily again. Oily hair can be very bothering at times and more so it is often a cause of complain for people who also suffer from acne. The excessive sebum secreted from the hair follicles makes the hair look greasy and unattractive. Remember your hair does not produce any oil it's an oily scalp which gives you the feeling of oil all over your head all the time. If you have a straight hair type then this oil from the scalp will be soon passed on to the rest of the hair that is the shaft till the tips. But if you have curly hair then sebum moves very slowly to the tips along the hair shaft. Try the following solutions for oily hair or better to say an oily scalp.
- Think that shampoo is designed to clean the scalp and not only the hair. When you shampoo your hair massage and clean your scalp thoroughly. If you have long hair then take some shampoo designed for oily hair on the hands, rub between your palms and massage it on the scalp vigorously without piling the rest of the hair on the head. If your hair is too oily then you might need to rinse and repeat. That means you will have to lather the second time to remove the excess oil from the scalp. Preferably choose a clear shampoo than going for the creamy shampoos. You can skip conditioning your hair if you have oily hair as natural hair sebum is a natural conditioner and any other application of conditioner will only increase the speed with which the hair appears oily.
- Handle your hair with care, comb often to move the sebum from the scalp to the shaft.
