Hair thinning is caused due to a variety of reasons that include lack of nutrition , side effects of certain medication, an illness, over use of cosmetic hair products that contain strong chemicals, stress and even improper hair care. Though it is a something to be concerned about it is not a very dangerous sign. The best way to understand what is actually causing your hair to thin out is to, consult a dermatologist. Once you have pinpointed what is causing the hair thinning treatment is easy and will only require some amount of effort on your part. One of the solutions to avoid hair thinning is to follow a proper and healthy diet. You will have to include in your diet certain nutrients like vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to stopping hair loss and thinning.

Omega - 3 fatty acids are very effective in strengthening hair and promoting hair growth. The fatty acid can be found in fish like mackerel, salmon, sardines and cod. Another source of omega-3 fatty acids are flax seeds eaten with a salad or your cereal (two spoons is ideal). Gamma - linoliec acid strengthens the hair shaft and keeps it thick throughout the duration of its growth cycle. A good source of Gamma- linoliec acid is black current oil which is available in capsule form. Regular coconut oil massages for your scalp during the week will also help combat thinning hair and do wonders for your hair growth. Apart from these dietary inclusions you can also try some over the counter hair thinning medication but once you discontinue regular doses your hair generally starts to thin out again.

Oily hair is not caused due to having an oily scalp but rather having a dry one. Thus in order to nourish the dry scalp the sebum glands situated in the scalp goes into overdrive and produces an excess amount of oil. The excess sebum eventually gets transferred to the hair shaft and leads to oily hair. To avoid this pick a shampoo that is meant for oily hair or use a baby shampoo. Wash your hair daily and when shampooing focus on your hair strands rather than the scalp itself. This will reduce the chances of it drying out too much. Make sure to rinse out your hair thoroughly as residue leftover from the shampoo will only make your hair seem sticky and limp. As far as possible avoid using a conditioner too frequently or use it only on the end tips of your hair.
