Effects and Medications of Burning Skin Rash Skin rash is a term that is associated with a group of spots, changes in the texture and color of the skin and area of inflammation. It is generally related to burning, itching, pain, tingling and swelling of the skin. The skin rashes may be localized means affecting typical areas of the body or generalized means affecting entire body. Some causes of burning skin rashes are allergic reactions to chemicals, foods, medications and environmental factors, bacterial, fungal and viral infections such as impetigo, measles, chicken pox, other diseases like psoriasis, eczema, parasitic infestations and systemic conditions such as lupus and diabetes. Some other causes of burning skin rashes are hives, scabies, blisters, eczema, insect bite and fungal infections. Skin rashes caused by rosacea, eczema and psoriasis are quite itchy and burning. Some skin rashes may originate from the allergic reactions to chemicals, foods, cosmetics, fibers and environmental factors. Many skin rashes are minor and short-lived. But, some of them may be highly contagious and they may be early signs of some serious, life-threatening diseases. The diagnosis of these skin rashes is mostly made from the symptoms. They can be treated with medications and ointments such as hydrocortisone cream (1%) that can soothe the skin rashes. The skin rashes can be prevented by avoiding an exposure to allergens.
