Dark circles can be caused due to a variety of reasons that include bad blood circulation, allergies , sun exposure , excessive fatigue , low levels of nutrition ,illness , kidney and stomach problems , pregnancy, excessive smoking, menstruation, sinus problems , a skin disorder , sudden weight loss and lack off sleep and some times even genetics , though this particular cause is very uncommon. Although unsightly, dark circles are completely harmless and require some very easy treatment solutions. The first solution you can use is almond oil. The oil is very good for your skin and helps soften it. The softening effect helps unclog pores and should be applied daily on the dark circles in the morning and then at night when going to sleep. You can also mix a little almond powder and milk cream for the same effect as the oil. Almond oil is available at most health stores. The next solution that you can use is - slices of cucumber. This is a well known remedy for getting rid of dark circles and works by increasing the amount of blood circulation that the skin around your eyes receive. The cucumber also helps reduce the puffy feeling that you get around your eyes in the morning or after eye fatigue. All you have to do is place two thin slices of cooled cucumber on each eye for about fifteen to twenty minutes. An alternative to this is potato. Grate a potato and wrap it in a thin piece of cloth and then place it over your eyes.
Make sure to always wash the skin around your eyes thoroughly after using any on of these remedies and also remember to apply a small amount of moisturizing cream or oil in order to prevent your skin from drying out. Your diet also plays an important role in getting rid of and preventing the further appearance of dark circles. Eating foods that are rich in iron, folic acid and vitamin C are a good idea. Also cut down your intake of caffeine, aerated drinks, alcohol and smoking. Always drink plenty of water as it helps get rid of toxins from the body and is good for the overall health of your skin. Another popular dark circle remedy is tea. Take a couple of tea bags and submerge them in cold water for a couple of minutes. Remove the excess water from each tea bag and then place the teabags on the dark circles around your eyes. Leave them there for about ten or fifteen minutes and wash your skin afterwards.
