Symptoms and Treatment for Acne Skin

Acne is one of the most acute skin problems. Acne is common skin disorder in United States. Acne is a chronic condition, which affects all ages, every ethnicity and both the sexes. Whiteheads, pimples, blackheads, redness, inflammation and irritation characterize acne prone skin. Acne can occur on face, neck, chest, shoulders and upper back. An acne prone skin has no cure though it can be well managed and controlled. Acne in teenagers is often seen on forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, while in adults it is commonly seen on perioral area around the mouth, chin and jaw. An acne skin is genetically determined and hormonally triggered. An acne skin has three primary influencing factors, namely, overabundance of surface skin cells, the oil glands are influenced by androgen hormones that elevate excess oil production (sebum) and the bacteria that mix with the sebum causing irritation of the pore wall resulting in inflammation. An acne prone skin is also prone to hyper pigmentation as blemishes which may take weeks to clear. An acne prone skin may be treated daily with AHA and BHA based products as the skin responds well to them. The use of anti-irritants, anti-inflammatories and anti-bacterials will alleviate the excess skin cell build up and will also help keep the pores of the skin clear and disinfected.
