Itching skin rash is referred to neurodermatitis, which is also commonly called eczema or a topical dermatitis. The skin in the condition of itching skin rash develops rashes in the upper layers. These rashes persist for a long time if no medication is taken. Commonly the symptoms would include one of some of the symptoms like dryness, redness, oozing, itching, skin edema, crusting blistering, flaking, bleeding, or cracking. Sometimes this is also associated with patches of discolored skin.

There are several factors, which can cause itching skin rash. Genetics, diet, lifestyle, allergies, sensitivity for some drug or medication, or exposure to chemical or toxic substance, are the prominent ones.

Generally itching skin rash is diagnosed from the symptoms. However, the doctor will also consider some other things as family history, or whether you are subjected the risk factors or not.

The treatment includes moisturizing the skin, with creams, soaps, moisturizing agents like emollients or aqueous creams, etc. these are to be applied on the skin during the day as well as night. The basic purpose of these is to keep the skin moist due to which it can heal naturally.  Some medications as sulfur, coal tar, and in rare cases steroids are used in for the treatment.
