Advice on Skin Rash in Kids

Skin rash may be caused by many factors like a drug reaction, an infection or allergic reaction. Most of the rashes caused in childhood do not harm your child and go away over time but some of them have a life-threatening effect. Many childhood diseases are caused by bacteria or viruses and have a rash as their primary symptom. For example, chicken pox, measles, etc. though these types of rashes do not have a long term effect on your child's health a rash of any type should be taken seriously and a doctor should be consulted. Life threatening rashes are very rare in children. When your child has a life threatening rash he appears to be very ill. Fever and petechiae often accompany a life threatening rash. Most kids suffer from a parasitic or fungal infection or rash as they share a lot of things and are less careful about cleanliness. Prolonged itching and hair loss are the symptoms of fungal and parasitic rashes. Scabies and ringworm are the types of fungal and parasitic rashes which may affect your child. It is normal for a new born baby to have rashes. Diaper rash and cradle cap rash are very common. On the identification of a rash on your child's skin a doctor should be consulted for evaluation.
