Lupus Skin Rashes
Lupus skin rash is a rash whose shape resembles that of the face of wolf. Lupus means wolf in Latin and this is how it got its name. Nevertheless, note that the rash may have some other shape as well.
The common symptoms include development of thick and scaly lesions. After sometime, black or blue colored marks on the skin and bruises are developed. The patient does not experience itching in these lesions. However, the problem is that they cause scarring. Moreover, the other tissues as well are affected. Muscle and joints pain, fever, feeling of uncomfortableness, kidney and problems with nervous system can occur because of this. Therefore, it is very important that they be treated as early as possible.
Anybody can develop lupus skin rashes, however genetics plays at least some role in it. Moreover, women are the ones who suffer from it in greater numbers. In addition, old people are more prone to it.
The symptoms in the initial stages are common with several diseases. Therefore diagnosing lupus is somewhat difficult at that time.
The treatment of lupus skin rash would include medications and topical creams and ointments. Medications like corticosteroids are directly injected in to the lesions if the topical creams or ointments fail. In addition to all this, the affected skin has to be protected from direct sunlight and other extreme conditions.
