Natural homemade scalp massage oil for treating hair problems

Natural hair oils and remedies for hair problems

Giving your scalp a good oil massage is the best way of nourishing the hair. The hair is generally porous. The outer layer of the hair, known as the cuticle, is placed in layers. When this cuticle gets damaged on account of sun exposure, pollution, dust, hard brushing, perming, coloring, bleaching and blow drying, it leads to the formation of split ends, coarse, dry and brittle hair that tends to break easily. Split ends are formed when cuticle has been worn away and the cortex which is the inner part of the hair is frayed and exposed. The best way to restore shine and sheen to your hair would be by giving it a healthy oil massage.

Coconut oil is considered to be the best conditioner for the hair. The best method of applying this oil to the hair is after a shower, when your hair is damp but not dripping wet. Take ½ a teaspoon of the oil (for hair that is long and lesser for short hair). Smear the oil on your palms and then begin by applying the oil at the hair ends. Make use of your fingers to spread the oil in an even manner. Make sure that you do not use too much of oil or else it will make the hair look greasy. Use less oil at the roots, a little in the center and more towards the hair ends. Avoid applying too much at the roots as it will make the scalp sticky. This will help in nourishing the hair and making it stronger. Olive oil is also considered to be good for the hair. It will make the hair look shiny, silky, healthy and fresh. Massaging olive oil into the scalp will also be beneficial as it will clean both the hair and the scalp. This oil is useful for grey hair, hair loss and hair strengthening.

Warm 1-2 teaspoons of the oil in a pan. Once the oil cools, massage it into the scalp for 10 minutes, making sure that you cover the hair as well. After this wrap your hair with a warm towel. After thirty minutes take the towel off and wash the hair with lukewarm water. This will make the hair softer and more manageable. Almond oil is also considered to be good for the hair as it is a good source of Vitamin E. Warm almond oil can be massaged into the scalp in the same manner as above.
