I am 26, my hair is dry and wavy. I use fenugreek powder with henna once in fortnight and also use conditioner after my bath. This helps hair to be smooth for 2-3 days and then hair gets back to the same condition.
This is only to be expected, especially with the modern lifestyle and the pollution and dust in the average urban environment. Conditioning needs to be done regularly, and you cannot expect one application to last for more than a couple of days. The condition of your hair is bound to start deteriorating by the second day, after which you need to shampoo and condition your hair once again. If you want, you can use a homemade hair conditioner instead of a commercially available product, but it is essential that you shampoo your hair every alternate day so as to wash out the build up of sweat, dust, dirt, and chemicals.
Of course, if you are referring only to the effects of the henna and fenugreek powder, then there may be a real problem. If your hair is soft and smooth only for the first three days after this treatment, and it is coarse and dry for the next ten days, in spite of regular washing and conditioning, then there may be something wrong with your hair care or diet. Make sure that the shampoo you are using is suitable for your hair type. You should of course be using a shampoo for dry hair, but just about any dry hair shampoo may not work. Each shampoo has different ingredients, and one particular dry hair shampoo be the wrong one for you, while working well for someone else who has dry hair. There are several different types of conditioners too, and you should find the right conditioner for your hair. Some conditioners give your hair the right pH balance for it, some give your hair a protective coating, while others artificially smoothen the hair and cover damage.
If you want a natural conditioner, a good option is oil, preferably coconut oil. Olive oil is also supposed to be good for hair, and you can even mix coconut oil or olive oil with egg and apply this mixture on your hair and scalp about an hour before you wash your hair.
Coming to your diet, there are no particular foods that will make your hair grow or look beautiful, but it is important to ensure that you get all the necessary nutrients – proteins, minerals, vitamins, and fat too. A varied, balanced diet is essential for this, as any imbalance will end up affecting your hair. If these measures do not work, then you should consult a hair specialist in order to detect any underlying health problem that could be affecting your hair.
