Using oil to massage dry scalp and treat rashes and dandruff on head due to dry scalp

I get rash like eruptions on my head. It is so very difficult even to apply ointments. Can you suggest some home made remedy to treat rashes on my head?

Rashes on head can be caused by various reasons. From your description it sounds as if your scalp has been affected by a form of dandruff. This is caused by a dry scalp. The dryness of the scalp causes intense itching and often leads to the development of rashes. These rashes have a thick crust and make it impossible for you to brush your hair, wash it or even apply ointments on it. This can also make it very embarrassing for the person suffering from these rashes on the scalp since it makes hair styling difficult.

You should consult a doctor about the actual cause of the rashes. In the meanwhile, what you can do is to pamper your hair. The normal reason for people to suffer from dandruff is because they have very dry scalps. One of the first things that a dry scalp needs is some intense massaging. You can use almost any oil to massage into your scalp though olive oil and coconut oil are usually accepted as the most effective. Heated coconut oil can work wonders and should be slowly massaged in circles on the scalp. You can avoid the actual rashes since this could be painful but ensure that the rest of your scalp is thoroughly oiled. Ideally you should leave it on overnight since this works wonders for the scalp and the hair too. You can then use lemon juice on your scalp in the morning. Use fresh lemon juice and massage it into your scalp. Half an hour is sufficient to allow the juice to work on your scalp and you can wash your hair after that. You can also use sour yoghurt on your scalp since this can remove the itchiness out of your hair. Leave half a cup of yogurt out overnight and use it in the morning on the scalp. You can also make a paste of fenugreek seeds and apply this on your hair and scalp. Remember to soak the seeds overnight so that they can be ground up easily.

Take care to use only cool water when washing your hair. Hot water on the scalp will only strip it of its essential oils and make it drier than ever. The shampoo you use is also an important matter to consider. Usually shampoos are very strong and harsh and cause your hair to lose all the essential nutrients. Naturally this makes the hair look dry and dull and the scalp to develop dandruff.
