Natural grey hair remedies

What are the tips and treatments for preventing gray hair?

What you are exhibiting is an alarming sign being seen frequently especially in urban areas. Hair naturally starts turning gray anytime after thirty years, and it takes quite some time to spread. However, an urban lifestyle, with its dirt and grime on the streets, chlorinated water et al wreak havoc on the natural color and texture of your hair. While this can be heartbreaking, the good news is that by sticking to some home remedies in hair care, you can greatly reverse the trend, or at least stem the graying. First of all, determine the cause of the premature graying. If either of your parents too exhibited a tendency to gray prematurely, chances are you have got it too. Your diet could also be a cause. Deficiency of B vitamins, iron, copper and iodine too can make itself pronounced in the form of premature gray hair. Additionally, poor hair care can also lead to excessive graying of the hair at a relatively early age.

Removing your already white hair can only be achieved by snipping each one off. However what you can do is prevent any further hair from undergoing the discoloration. The first thing to do is to follow a rigorous regimen of hair care in order to maintain hygiene of the scalp and your hair. Regularly wash it using shampoo and follow this with liberal use of a conditioner. Caution is advised when choosing hair care products. Absolutely avoid ones with a harsh chemical content and go for mild ones, preferably herbal. Avoid coloring your hair as hair color only aggravates the graying. Blow drying your hair is another practice to be avoided. Always wash your hair using lukewarm water and pat dry using a soft towel. Supplement your diet with foods like green leafy vegetables, bananas, tomatoes, nuts, eggs and whole grains. Other iodine rich foods like carrots and fish too will prove extremely helpful in stemming the graying.

Another excellent remedy to promote the growth of natural hair is the application of coconut oil on the scalp. Boil some leaves of the hibiscus plant in coconut oil, cool and strain the mixture. Massage your scalp with this oil using your fingertips each night before going to bed and rinse it off using lukewarm water the next morning. This practice if followed daily will produce visible results within a month. Massaging your scalp with butter twice a week is also said to help prevent graying.
