Getting rid of unwanted facial hair permanently
Threading is an effective way of getting rid of unwanted facial hair especially from the eyebrows, forehead and upper lip. This procedure involves the plucking out of hair using thread twisted into a double strand. It is preferred as it results in a precise, clean hairline, which enhances the beauty of the individual and a line of hair is removed at once, making it a quicker and less painful procedure.
However, threading should be done by a trained, well experienced, confident individual who has a steady hand. Temporary inflammation and redness are common after effects of threading. If the person is not sure of what he or she is doing, the process can be more painful as the hair gets pulled more. When not confident, the person tends to pull the hair and release the thread before plucking the hair. This causes a strain on the surrounding skin as the hair is pulled repeatedly, eventually leading to the formation of small boils. An unsteady hand could also cause undue strain on the adjacent skin. Besides, instead of coming out from the roots, the hair could break midway, especially close to the skin, and you may then develop ingrown hairs and folliculitis. Threading the eyebrows after having applied lotion or cream to the area also makes the process more difficult. If you have sensitive skin, the area could be prone to rash, especially if the powder or thread used does not agree with your skin. Hypersensitive skin tends to react in this manner to threading. Using some calamine lotion or aloe gel will help to soothe the irritation caused by threading.
Alternately, you could try plucking out the hair with a pair of tweezers. This could be a painfully long procedure as each strand in plucked out individually. Waxing is another method of getting rid of unwanted hair. You could visit a professional for the same. Waxing is not as accurate as threading but it does help to get rid of unwanted hair. Bleaching lightens the hair and makes it less visible. There is no guarantee that your skin won’t break out into pimples with any of the above mentioned alternatives, but they are worth a try. Laser removal and electrolysis are permanent solutions to the removal of unwanted hair. They are less painful but quite expensive. Laser treatments damage the hair follicles and get rid of unwanted hair in approximately 20 days. Electrolysis kills the root through the use of electric currents, but can be painful and may cause scarring.
