How to get rid of unwanted facial hair using home treatments?
It is common in women suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) to exhibit unwanted facial hair that tends to be thicker than normal. While the facial hair in itself is harmless, it is quite an unsightly sight on a woman’s face. The root cause is due to hormonal imbalance. In women suffering from PCOD, the androgen production is suddenly increased while the estrogen levels come down. The excessive production of androgen makes itself pronounced in the form of facial hair above the lips and on the chin. Waxing may be a temporary solution but will not help you to get rid of the problem permanently. You have said that in your case, certain medications too were not helpful. I hope these medications have been prescribed by a medical practitioner. If not, stick to the treatment prescribed by the doctor who is treating your PCOD disorder; and avoid the intake or random medications. There are several home remedies that you could try though, to reduce the facial hair and eventually stop their growth altogether. Consulting your gynecologist should definitely be the first step though.
A homemade facemask is a home remedy that has been handed down the ages in order to fight unwanted facial hair in women. To make the mask, mix two teaspoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and half a teaspoon of water. Mix this very well till the sugar dissolves. Now apply this thick mixture on your face where there is a growth of facial hair moving your fingertips in the direction of the hair growth. Leave the mask on for fifteen to twenty minutes and then rinse it off using cold water. This face mask should be repeated at least 2 to 3 times a week and very soon you will notice a visible reduction in the growth of facial hair. Milk or milk cream makes another excellent facemask. Take 1 teaspoon of milk cream and add a pinch of turmeric powder to it. Mix it well and wash apply on your face. Leave it on for at least half an hour before rinsing it away with cold water. This treatment too should be repeated multiple times a week and should be followed over a prolonged period of time. Steps like laser hair removal are expensive, and in your case, it has been ineffective too. The best option would be to stick to these simple home remedies for some time, observe the change, and if you still face the same problem, consider advanced medical measures in consultation with your gynecologist.
