Holistic oily skin care treatment | Get healthy and glowing skin

Mild exfoliation for excess oil control on skin

The motto of the US Armed Forces states that - ‘the difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer.’ Perhaps you should consider this when considering your goal of completely changing your skin tone within 10 days! The color of your skin is part of your natural genetic makeup and environmental conditions. A pigment called melanin in your skin is responsible for the exact shade of skin tone, from very fair to quite dark. These differences have much to do with the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which has harmful effects on humans, including skin cancer. For example, people in a tropical area need darker skin for protection against higher levels of UV rays, while those in northern latitudes require lower levels of melanin, since they are exposed to lower UV radiation. So before you try to reduce your skin tone, keep in mind that your ‘dark’ skin is actually playing an important protective role.

A practical problem faced in lightening skin tone is that of maintaining uniformity across your body. For example, you can easily find several over-the-counter creams and lotions with active whitening ingredients. However, these are useful for applying in smaller areas like the face and arms, which may be suntanned. They contain chemicals that ‘bleach’ the skin and cannot be used all over the body. Some people try natural skin care methods to achieve overall fairness, including baths in lukewarm water with lime juice, glycerin, and rose water. However, the effectiveness of such an approach is not proven. Perhaps the best course for you will be to adopt a holistic skin care program for your oily skin. Excess of body oil (sebum) traps pollution and dirt, which can make your skin look darker than its natural tone. The simplest thing to do is take frequent baths to clear up the excess natural oil (sebum) and remove accumulated dirt. You can even try a mild cleanser containing salicylic acid to exfoliate your skin and reduce the chances of getting acne. Avoid oil-based cosmetic products or ‘pancake’ makeup that can trap the excess sebum. Wear comfortable clothes that do not trap sweat and moisture.

You could also modify your diet to reduce the amount of oily, sugary, or fatty foods and increase fresh, healthy ingredients such as leafy greens and fruits. Keep your body hydrated and start an exercise program. All of these measures will help you get and maintain a healthy, glowing skin and keep you physically fit and attractive.
