How to glow skin color naturally
Before your friend begins any kind of remedy to lighten skin tone, there are a few facts that you should share with him or her. The first is that an individual’s skin tone is a natural result of genetics and geography. This is because the pigment melanin in skin reacts with ultraviolet (UV) radiation in sunlight to create a particular skin tone. For example, people from the tropics (where sunlight is intense) have darker skin than people from the artic region (where sunlight is weaker). This also plays a role in the body’s natural defense against many forms of skin disease, including melanoma (skin cancer). In fact, statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) taken in the period 1975–2005 show that fair-skinned Caucasians were more likely to die of melanoma of the skin than any other group. So please advise your friend that lightening the skin tone may actually cause more harm in the long run!
If your friend still wants to continue, chances are that he or she may be attracted by the vast variety of skin whitening products available online and at drug stores. However, you need to be cautious and check the list of ingredients. Many of the ‘skin bleaching’ products contain either hydroquinone or ammoniated mercury. As far back as 1990, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) branded ammoniated mercury as unsafe, and there are indications that long-term usage of hydroquinone may cause cancer. In addition, hydroquinone can cause a skin-disfiguring condition called ochronosis, where parts of the skin darken, thicken, and develop gray spots.
If your friend chooses to go for natural skin care, then a solution of lime juice, glycerin, and rose water may be helpful. Your friend can add this solution to bath water and soak every day for at least 30 minutes. This also helps to clean excess body oil (sebum) that can trap dirt and pollution, making the skin look darker. Drinking a lot of water and fresh juices helps to keep the skin healthy and supple. You should also advise your friend to adopt a healthy skin diet with a lot of fresh, leafy greens that contain important antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. These can detoxify the blood and bring a glow to the skin. He or she should avoid sugary, fatty, and oily foods and begin regular exercise. Even just 30 minutes of daily medium intensity exercise helps to tone the body, boost immunity, increase self-confidence, and bring a healthy, attractive radiance to the skin.
