Improve skin tone and reduce tanning using remedies for sun tan
Tanning primarily happens because of excessive production of the pigment called melanin in the skin. This production is, in turn, a reaction to exposing the skin to the ultraviolet rays of the sun without any protection, such as clothing or a sunscreen lotion. Prolonged exposure to the sun without protection darkens the tone of the skin from its original color. It is therefore advisable to follow simple skin care tips, wear suitable clothing, such as hats and full sleeves, besides applying a suntan lotion, and possibly even carrying an umbrella when stepping out. It is sometimes also recommended that you wear sunscreen even if you are inside a room, if there is a lot of sunlight. The sun is generally at is harshest from 10 am to 4 pm, and this is when you need to protect your skin the most. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, you should also reapply the lotion at least twice in a day.
Usually a sun tan fades away on its own; however, it may be possible to reverse the effects of a sun tan with some simple skin treatments and remedies. This may take time though, so one needs to be patient and diligent with the remedies. First of all, your diet plays an important role in making your skin look healthy and fresh. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and consume lots of water every day. Other than that, lemon, orange, pineapple, and berries especially are supposed to be beneficial remedies for a sun tan. You can also crush any one of these fruits and apply the paste on your skin; leave it on for 30 minutes, and then wash it off. Foods like potato and lemon have natural bleaching agents, so you can rub the juice of a raw potato or lime into your skin. Keep it on for about 20 minutes and then wash it off. Please note that you must never step out in the sun with lemon still on your skin, as doing this will darken your skin even more. You can also combine lemon juice with sugar and glycerin. Scrub the skin with this solution in a circular motion, and let it stay for 20 minutes before washing it off with water.
Like lemon and potato, you can also apply cucumber juice, vinegar, or milk on your skin. You should apply a moisturizer after any of these treatments if you have dry skin, as they can make the skin still drier. Turmeric is very beneficial for many skin problems and skin care, including removing a suntan. Mix it with milk and apply the paste on your skin to improve the skin tone. Another effective remedy is applying a mix of 2 tablespoons of honey and the juice of one lemon.
