Treatment for dark and dry skin problem using lemon and potato
It is important to understand that the dry skin and the darkening of the skin are very closely related. While you may feel at this time that no health related concerns exist, it is always likely that they could arise in the future if a lack of caution is present. The dry skin is primarily due to the evaporation of the moisture in your skin as a result of venturing outdoors during the peak hours of sun damage. Under the upper layers of the skin exists a number of sebaceous glands. These glands produce natural oils called sebum which helps protect the outer layers of the skin against sun damage and also helps retain any moisture within the skin cells.
If your diet is insufficient or you do not drink enough water and fluids, the skin cells will contain even less amount of moisture and the sebaceous glands will not be as productive opening the door to the sun causing more damage to your skin than you think. The ultra violet rays emitted from the sun can eventually lead to skin cell augmentation and even skin cancer. The darker color of your face when compared to your hands is also very likely to be caused by excessive exposure to the sun. When the skin is exposed to the sun, the melanocytes, which are the cells that create the coloring agent for the skin – Melanin, create additional melanin as its properties act as a defense mechanism against the harmful ultra violet rays. The surge in production of melanin will result in a darker complexion of the areas of the skin most exposed to the sun. If you are concerned about your darkening complexion, you would be best advised to avoid going outdoors when the sun is still out, especially between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. when the sun is at it most destructive. Wear sun block or sun screen whenever you go out as this will provide additional protection to the skin and it may then not require an increase in melanin production.
To avoid skin problems like dry skin, increase your intake of water and other fluids as well as your intake of fresh fruit and follow proper skin care tips. For the complexion, rub a piece of lime thoroughly over the affected areas of your body about an hour before you go for a bath. Lime is a natural bleaching agent and should help significantly in this regard. Cutting a potato into small slices and applying them over the affected areas should also do the trick.
