Curing pimples and black heads using sandal wood and lemon juice

Preventing black heads and pimples at home

Curiously, you do have the correct ingredients to solve the problem of acne. Lemon juice is a good acidic agent that has the power to break up dead skin cell protein, making it easier to slough off the layers of dead skin, a good alternative to this also lactic acid, which is a major component of milk. Sandalwood is also useful for the requirement of dealing with acne. Sandalwood essential oil is in fact a major component of many soaps and soap products. The active ingredient of sandalwood powder or sandalwood oil has an antimicrobial action and since a major part of acne is in the action of bacteria creating an infection, sandalwood proves its effectiveness. Make a paste out of sandalwood powder and lemon juice and apply it to your face. Allow it to dry completely and then rinse it off with warm water. However, this is not going to solve the problem of black heads, as the mechanism that creates blackheads will continue unaffected. This does not mean that lemon juice and sandalwood would be completely ineffective; however, there are some other effective methods that you can use along with your lemon – sandalwood treatment for long term results.

A black head is a problem that is part of acne. It occurs when the sebaceous gland ducts are blocked with dried up sebum and keratin. Sebum is the natural skin oil that you find on the skin and keratin is a skin protein that is also secreted and used as a waterproofing layer to the skin. When these two substances are secreted from the area around a hair follicle, it dries up on contact with the air. Since this blockage of the ducts is not complete and air can permeate into the duct, the keratin and sebum end up getting oxidized. This oxidation causes the darkening. Blackheads do not have the same effect as pimples because pimples are a more advanced stage of skin infection that can end up in some deep scarring. The best analogy is to think of a pimple as an abscess.

Abscesses are usually not visible on the surface of the skin and are under the skin. Their presence causes pain and inflammation – something that can happen in pimples as well. Usually, abscesses rise to the surface of the skin and the contents of the infected zone can then be expelled from the pustule that results. When you are dealing with pimples, the rise to the surface may happen or may remain under the skin. The resulting inflammation then can cause the loss of tissue under the skin. This makes the surface of the skin collapse forming a ridge or crater called an ice pick scar.
It is important to cleanse your skin on a daily basis and have a healthy diet in order to avoid the formation of blackheads.
