Natural Treatment for Insect Bite Scar
After an insect bite, if you find it difficult to breathe or swallow anything, if the bitten area swells up drastically, or if you feel disorientated, then you need to immediately consult a doctor. Chances are that you have been bitten by one of the few dangerous, venomous insects. Depending on the severity of the situation, the doctor will then proceed to take care of the situation. However, most of the insect bites that we usually suffer from are from non-venomous insects that make us itch terribly. Though these are not dangerous, sometimes they do manage to spread certain diseases like malaria and typhoid which could become problematic if not taken care of immediately.
Since most of these bites causes itchiness and swelling, the first thing that you need to do is get rid of the itchiness. This will also ensure that you don’t scratch it and leave a scar behind. But before you do that, make sure that the stinger the insect used to sting you is still not stuck in your body. If it is, then first you will have to remove the stinger so that no further venom enters the body. Soon after that, or if the stinger is not stuck in your body, as soon as you are bitten, apply ice to that area. This will help to bring down the swelling and take care of the itching, at least temporarily. Follow this by applying a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Baking soda contains natural enzymes that attack the venom in the bite and help to reduce the swelling and the itching as well. Lavender oil is another soothing remedy that you can apply to the area to bring down the swelling and the itching. Another effective way to take care of this is to apply damp red mud to the bite. This will be a little messy but it will provide a very cooling affect. To make sure that you are not bitten again, apply either citronella oil, Margosa oil or tea tree oil to prevent insect bites. You can also add a few pieces of camphor to a jug full of water and use this water as a final rinse when bathing. Once you have taken care of the swelling and the itching, there is hardly any chance of any kind of scar developing after an insect bite as long as you do not scratch or irritate the area.
