Acne Herbal Remedies

Acne is without a doubt the most well known of all skin problems because of its widespread occurrence.

It is also not restricted to just one narrow age group, although teenagers and young adults are more prone to acne. Acne is not as serious and poses almost no health risk as compared to many other conditions but it can cause marked psychological damage.

This is because acne can leave behind very visible scars that damage your skin and appearance, consequently shattering your sense of confidence and self esteem. Scarring is generally more problematic when the condition is ignored and not treated promptly. The causes of acne are not clearly understood, but hormones, diet, genes, and stress are all believed to have some role to play. While the causes may be debatable, the treatment options and effectiveness of certain remedies is unquestionable. Acne herbal remedies have been found to be extremely effective in the treatment of acne, along with other natural methods and dietary measures. Skin care and hygiene should however be practiced on a regular basis, failing which not treatment can be completely effective.

Here are some acne herbal remedies that can help you overcome and prevent outbreaks of acne:
  • Carrot and cucumber juice are beneficial for acne treatment, whether consumed, or applied to your skin.
  • Sandal wood and neem powder, which is particularly well known in India, are two useful herbs that are highly regarded amongst most herbalists.  Make a mixture of the two with rose water added in and apply the paste over the acne affected areas of skin. Leave this on over night and wash off in the morning.
  • Fenugreek leaves can be used as an application and is regarded as one of the best acne herbal remedy. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing of with lukewarm water.
  • A mixture of turmeric powder with mint juice can also work as a useful topical application, and should be left on the skin for half an hour. This is particularly useful for acne on the back.
  • The consumption of wheat grass juice is also believed to be one of the useful herbal remedies for acne.

Although acne treatment is one area where conventional treatments are quite effective and relatively safe, acne herbal remedies remain extremely popular and are very relevant for us as they are just as effective and are a lot cheaper. There is also a much smaller risk of reactions as compared to medicated products that sometimes contain chemicals that are known to irritate the skin.
