Acne Skin Care Treatment

Acne is the commonest skin condition and there are various reliable acne skin care products available in the market today.

The skin has sebaceous glands that produce sebum and when pores get clogged with sebum and dead skin cells, bacteria within the pores multiplies rapidly. This infection causes acne which is generally manifested in the form of pimples. Acne generally occurs in adolescents as hormonal changes increases the amount of sebum being produced by the body.

Acne Care Tips

One of the best acne skin care treatments is benzoyl peroxide.

Benzoyl peroxide dissolves sebum and kills the bacteria that cause acne. Unfortunately benzoyl peroxide also causes the skin to become dry and flaky. Use an acne skincare product that has a low concentration of benzoyl peroxide and although this will take longer to show results, it will also have less side effects. Follow a regular acne care program to get rid of acne completely. Make sure that you wash your face with warm water at least twice a day as this will help to wash away excess oil. You can use an acne soap that is high in sulfur as this will help to keep a check on the bacteria.

Skin Care for Acne

There are also various oral and topical antibiotic creams and although they can be very effective temporarily, they can result in bacteria that are resistant to the medication. Your “skin care for acne” regimen should also include natural products. You can make your own facial scrub by mixing equal quantities of lemon juice, honey and fresh lime or lemon juice. This exfoliating scrub will help to slough off dead skin and dirt without stripping your skin of its moisture. You should also steam your face at least once a week which will help to open up your pores. After steaming your face, use a face pack to draw out excess oil. Mud packs like kaolin clay or fullers earth are considered to be the most effective.

Skin care for acne can be extremely tricky as benzoyl peroxide can leave your skin dry and sensitive. Using a normal cosmetic moisturizer might irritate your skin even further causing to become raw and inflamed. When buying a moisturizer, make sure that you buy one that does not contain any perfumes and dyes and is labeled comodogenic which means that it will not clog your pores. You can also use a few drops of coconut milk as a moisturizer. Coconut milk also contains fatty acids which help to replenish fats that are lost due to your acne treatment.
