Laser acne scars Acne vulgaris is a skin condition caused by the changes in the skin structure consisting of hair follicles and its associated sebaceous glands and is referred to as pimples, blemishes, spots, zits, or acne.
Acne not only spoils our looks but can also be psychologically upsetting.
How to deal with the scars? The most effective way to deal with acne scars is to undergo acne scar laser treatment. This is a gentle and safe treatment to target the overactive sebaceous glands that are beneath your skin. Medical lasers like the smooth beam `fraxel’ laser or fractional laser are safe. It promotes collagen growth and fills the scars from inside out.
What does acne scar laser treatment do? The laser marks the over active glands. The light penetrates the skin and causes these glands to stop over production of sebum.
Microscopic pinpoints of light are used to remove acne scars and pigmentation. The outer skin is protected by a cooling spray and is not damaged during the treatment. The precision in the procedure allows the damaged skin to be gently sculpted away. Side effects are minimal and may include redness or swelling lasting from a few days to a couple of months. Creams or gels will help you camouflage them. Laser treatment can be performed for severe acne too. Laser acne scars removal is expensive and is most suitable for severe cases.
What are its benefits? Laser acne scars treatment is a bloodless procedure and is a precisely controlled treatment. It will not only remove scars but also wrinkles and pigment lesions. It can be used as an alternative for other skin revitalizing treatments. There is reduced risk of scarring and pigment change.
Laser acne surgery. Another treatment option for removing acne scars is laser acne surgery. Lasers burn the unattractive scarred tissue and cause minimal damages to the lower skin. Although it does not lead to scarring, it might take two or more months for the skin to heal completely. After the surgery, the skin is raw and inflamed and requires a great deal of post operative care. If multiple sessions are required you might have go through months of discomfort. This surgery reduces sebum production and stimulates collagen growth to fill and smoothen the skin. This surgery is relatively costly. It can be done only for mild or moderate acne.
Common precautions for acne. Remember to treat the skin gently and never scrub it harshly. Try not to wash your skin repeatedly as it will cause it to dry and cause irritation and might trigger production of oil as compensation for dehydration. Use mild soaps to clan your skin. When using an exfoliating scrub, do it gently. Try to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. |
