Topical Application for Wrinkle Treatment & Anti Wrinkle Care

The easiest form of skin treatment for wrinkles is the use of topical application of wrinkle creams.

Anti wrinkle creams and cosmetics are widely available everywhere from drugstores to health food stores; these applications are beneficial for the skin, helping to moisturize and nurture it. However, the ability of the creams and lotions to reduce wrinkles, smoothen the skin and tighten the collagen below the surface of the skin is, regrettably, quite limited.

Moreover, any visual improvement is likely to disappear when the use of the topical agent is ceased. Anti wrinkle creams and cosmetics for wrinkles are available without a doctor’s prescription as well prescribed or medicated ones.

Prescribed drugs or creams are mostly a notable synthetic derivative of Vitamin A or retinoids that provide beneficial results in enriching skin that has been sun-damaged or aged. Clinical research of topical retinoid preparations have found them to be free from danger and also effective in reducing fine wrinkles. However, not all retinoids are safe for the skin and they may be skin irritants that often produce skin reactions. Most tretinoins which are a form of retinoid is a skin irritant and often produces adverse skin reactions. Moreover, any viewable improvement might go away when the use of the drug has been discontinued.

Anti Wrinkle Skin Cream

The efficacy of anti wrinkle creams is dependent in part on the dynamic ingredient or ingredients in the tube. The creams might improve the appearance of the skin, but it depends upon how long the individual uses the product and the quantity used as well as the type of the active ingredient in the wrinkle cream. Since the FDA separates creams and lotions as cosmetic preparations, which are known to be as having no medical value, the FDA regulates the OTC drugs more lightly than it does for prescription drugs. Thus OTC cosmetic preparations and anti-wrinkle creams do not need to undergo rigorous examination for safety, allergy and effectiveness before it is available in the market.

A note of caution to be heeded - since the FDA does not evaluate cosmetic preparations and anti wrinkle creams for effectiveness, there is no guarantee that any or all these OTC preparations will help in reducing the skin wrinkles. Sometimes the individual could be right in doubting whether the cream may contain any of its advertised ingredients. Moreover if nonprescription wrinkle creams do contain the mentioned ingredients, it would only have lower concentrations of the active ingredients than the ones present in prescription creams. Hence results, if any, would be limited and mostly short-lived.
